[EXTENDED!] FPE's 3rd Sarihay Media Awards Calls for EntriesPosted on February 22, 2017
The Foundation for the Philippine Environment’s (FPE) is pleased to announce the return of the Sarihay Media Awards, to honor excellence in environmental reporting.
“Sarihay” is coined from the phrase, samu’t saring buhay, or the diversity of life—capturing what FPE and its partners strive to protect and conserve. FPE, through the Sarihay Media Awards, recognizes the power and influence of media in promoting deeper awareness and better understanding of environment and sustainable development issues among policy and decision makers, and the general public.
Following the success of the first and second Sarihay Media Awards, the 3rd Sarihay Media Awards invites Filipino media practitioners to submit their best published work, that covers FPE’s environmental agenda: biodiversity conservation, environmental education, environmental governance, indigenous ecological knowledge, systems and practices, renewable energy, ecological sustainability and development issues (i.e. mining, logging, land conversion, fisheries, et al.), watershed or protected areas management, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and management.
A total of twelve awards are spread across five categories—print, television, radio, photojournalism, and online. The Sarihay Media Awards seeks to recognize outstanding and responsible reportage of environmental news, and encourage wider coverage of environmental concerns.
