Project Goals and Objectives

General: To identify priority natural resources for conservation and areas suitable for development and to establish data base of flora, fauna and freshwater reources. Specifics: To discover the status of fresh water and forests resources in Mt. Sisipitan and Mt. Mugao; To produce data of natural resources as basis in community conservation planning; To describe the importance of these resources in the life of Maeng People;To identify species with special concern.

 

Outputs and Outcomes

The assessment results would be used for recognition of the Lapat system or the Maeng's Sustainable Traditional and Indigenous Forest Resources Management Systems and Practices at the national level and for registration in the international community as an ICCA. It would also serve as a key ninput in the enhancement of the ADSDPP, particularly the conservation plan for natural resources. The project was co-founded by FPE, MIPPEG, and GEF-Small Grants Programme.
